Amos 4:13 (NASB)
For behold, He who forms mountains
and creates the wind
And declares to man what are His thoughts,
He who makes dawn into darkness
And treads on the high places of the earth,
The Lord God of hosts is His name.

Amos, a shepherd, is called by God to prophesy. In chapter 3, he declares the guilt of the entire family of Israel. Then in chapter 4, he speaks of the many times God disciplined Israel, but they did not return to God.

I wonder how many challenges God has brought upon our world today in a loving attempt to draw us back to Him? Can you think of any that might be God’s call to us to return to Him?

Heavenly Father, I pray that You would open the eyes of those outside of Your kingdom to see clearly Your call to return to You. I also pray that the children of God would also see them and use these times to share Your good news. Amen.
