My Redeemer Lives

Job 19:25-26 NASB
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
And at the last he will take His stand on the earth.
“Even after my skin is destroyed,
Yet from my flesh I shall see God;

Yesterday, Saturday March 11th, the mother of our two oldest granddaughters died after a six year battle with cancer. She fought the fight harder than anyone that I have known. And through it all, she remained strong in her faith. In fact, it was my observation that her faith grew stronger over the years.

We wonder at times what God is thinking when he allows people to suffer, especially those that we love. But I know that Michelle understands now because she is with Jesus. It all makes sense to her now because she has seen the perfect plan of God.

Job suffered too. Yet he believed. This poetic book in the Bible takes us through the highs and lows of a life of wonderful blessings and terrible suffering. Through it all, Job remained steadfast in the knowledge that his Redeemer lives.

It makes the insignificant annoyances of life that I have seen to pale in comparison. I pray that I will always remember the amazing faith of a strong woman of God and that her example will be used by God to bring many others to faith over the years. Michelle was a good and faithful servant and I know that Jesus told her that yesterday.

Always praying for the glory of God,

  1. Thank you for the reminder Chris. I so often whine when I’m tired or annoyed and that is nothing compared to what Michelle or Job went through. Praying for your granddaughters and extended family.
